"Baby Food"

I want Maxwell to have the most nutritious food, so I decided to venture into the world of homemade baby food. I purchased a book called First Meals by Annabel Karmel. Some may feel that it's too much work, but I think it's worth it, so my baby doesn't have any unnecessary added sodium or sugar. Basically, what you do is peel the fruits/vegetables and steam them for 10-15 minutes. Then you puree` them in the blender, adding the water from the pot/steamer. Then I just pour the food into those glad ware 1/2 cup containers. You can also pour the food into flexible ice trays and freeze it. I started out making potatoes with pears and carrots with apples. He loved the potatoes with pears, but he didn't really care for the carrots. The look on his face was so funny. I tried to feed him for about 10 minutes and he was not having any of the carrots. I didn't blame him, because I don't like them, either! I have included a picture of Maxwell with the carrots. I'm thrilled that we tried again and he ate them the second time. But on this past Sunday night, I made some frozen broccoli with potatoes, and some pears. The broccoli and potatoes didn't look very good, but it tasted OK to me. I sent his food with him to his babysitter Bea's house. She said he loved it! I was so thrilled, because I wasn't really expecting him to like broccoli. Anyway, if you have a baby that is still doing baby food, I would recommend this. It's time consuming, but it is totally worth it, and you can make the food for the whole week!
